RV/Camping budget
I know we all like to RV or camp. Some boondock or dry camp others go to RV Parks & others to State or Federal campgrounds. I was just wondering what is your Max you are willing to pay per night?
Mine would be in the $45.00 to $50.00 range. I have a Golden Age pass so that gets me 1/2 price in National Parks. I also use my Good Sams card to save 10% at those parks. County Parks around me run between $20-40 that I stay at.
I know out here by the coast most are more like $70 & up which is out of my price range for a private park..
So what is your top $ amount ?

We only pay between $22-35 for full hookup sites around here. I would be willing to pay $60 plus for one trip if it was merited.

Right around $30 locally. Expect $20-30 for water/elec, a few dollars more to include sewer. That's for local, nice sites. Military is less, but often full. Tourist sites cost more. Booked at KOA in Charleston later this month, $59/night. But we're meeting relatives there, and want to entertain them, camping, pool, etc.

Here at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta we're in the RV parking across Alameda Blvd from the Fiesta grounds.
So a short walk or lots of shuttles to the activities. Have 50 Amp service and water. $25 to have tanks emptied.
Its $69 per night...but compared to those that drive and sit in traffic for an hour or more to get here...worth every penny.
Mornings we sit outside and watch all the balloons from the Dawn Patrol come over just 100 feet or so above us. Evenings we take the shuttle to the grounds and enjoy the Evening Glow of hundreds of balloons and fireworks afterwards is fantastic.
Has been quite the trip!!

We mostly boondock in national forest for 6 dollars/night and state parks at 28/night but have paid as high as 100/night to be on the beach for fourth of July. We like riding rzr's so boondocking is my favorite!

There is one local place we paid $50 a night (my max). They offered movie night, free sno cones and a free BBQ with hot dogs and chips. Not too bad.

soonernation, I like your package deal. Here's what we'll pay MORE for: package deals, hot tub, pool, secluded/wide spaces, patio table/umbrella, plenty of trees. What we HATE is a big concrete parking lot with everyone in their "slot," with about 5 ft to the next guy. If I wanted that, I could have gotten a job in a cubicle!

We run the spectrum. We spend a lot of Spring and Fall in Moab, UT and Fruita, CO, both have tons of free dispersed camping. In the winter we head to California where $40-$50/night is the going rate. We've found some in the $35 range and in January and February we usually try to go monthly in San Diego to get the rate down.
Bottom line is if we have a free dispersed option we will take it. When on the coast we have no problem paying the extra $$ for location and convenience to the beach.

One of my favorite camping spots "is a big concrete parking lot with everyone in their "slot," with about 5 ft to the next guy..." Tailgating Texas Tech football, $650 for the season, about $100 a weekend and this year they added power pedestals.
I do agree with MartyG, I like to get away from the crowds. But boondocking is never free, don't forget about the fuel to run the generator, it's usually cheaper in an RV Park, but not as much fun.
Texas state parks are a bargain at $20 something for power & water. The most I've ever paid was $350 for a weekend, lakeside at the drag boat races... it is all about location!!!

Ours depends on the venue and where we are going. I am generally not a large crowd person. I think the most I have paid for a campsite is ~$75 a night for a site at a beach resort campground. Most people want to camp right down at the beach where they are packed in like sardines, we camped a couple hundred yards away under the trees, where there was more space between the campers and rode our bikes to the beach.
I just paid $50 a night for 20 amps and water at a small Highland Games festival. Well worth it to me.

Aaron,
You make a very good point...what's it worth to me?
All depends on where we are, and why we're there.

We refuse to stay in a dump just to save a buck. Usually we are spending $30-40 a night for a good park. But at times we splurge. Currently we are in San Diego at the Chula Vista Rv Resort where the summer rates are $70-92 a night. We were here for two weeks at summer rates and spent $90 a night. This is our third week and the fall rate is $72 for our space. But it's a beautiful, well maintained, well rated park on the bay and worth every penny.

I also have a Coast to Coast Membership which allows me to stay at member parks for $10.00 a night. Was able to stay right on the beach when I picked up my Voltage back in April.
