Lake West Point in Ga.

I have camped in hundreds of campgrounds over the past 40+ years and have never found any better than in my own home town of LaGrange, Ga. The COE maintains four campgrounds around Lake West Point and the vast majority of the sites are large, private, and on the water. The only negative is no sewer hookups.

Thanks for the tip, that isn't a negative for us, over half of our camping is with no hookups.

We'll make note of it, if god is willing and our dollar dosen't tank any further, it will be on our list of places to check out on our NASCAR tour next year.

We are will be looking for old short tracks that are still running, to fill in our off weeks from the big boys.

I'm not a NASCAR fan so I don't know what a short track is but LaGrange is about an hour from Talladega and the Atlanta racetrack.

That has possibilities, I'm not a super speedway fan, but Hotlanta could be a possibility.

I grew up watch Friday and Saturday night short track shotouts at our local tracks, We just find it much more exciting than waiting for the 'big one' and seeing half the field taken out in one wreck.

Not too awfully far from LaGrange is East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL. I used to go there for the local races and winged cars when I was stationed at nearby Fort Benning. https://www.eamsdirt.com

Thanks, donzinger.

It's on the list to look at. Once we gat a list of tracks, we will start fleshing the trip out a with some cultural and heritage things. We should have plenty of time to see lots of that, since we will have 2-3 weeks between some of the Cup races we will be attending.
