Jasper Alberta

Leaving Jasper for home 14 July in the AM. Another nice time in a gorgeous location with great weather. ( but the Albertans will tell u it's like this all the time )
There is nothing like the Rocky Mountains for scenery and vistas. We will be leaving with a few less pints of blood as the mozzies(Mosquitos ) were quite hungry. They where hatching all the time. If I get anymore bumps u can call me "Lumpy".
Will post some pics when we get back home.
This place is like the UN...people from all over the world. All sorts of rigs, motorcycles, bikes, rv's. I think I have seen every camper, tent, rv combination there is. Unfortunately no pics of them.. just pics of some wild life and the views.
Take Care

Damn, you were in Jasper? Which campground? I was there all weekend at Whistler's - I would have stopped and said hi.

Re: Jasper Alberta

I've been to Jasper once before - love the place! Last time was in April though for spring skiing. It is much more active in the summer. It really feels alive this time of year. We did the tram, a 35 km mtn bike ride to Maligne Canyon (from Whistler campground) and hiked the Columbia Glacier. It's a great spot and we will definitely be heading back there next summer. Maybe one of these days we'll line up locations and grab a cold one (or two)! JC

Re: Jasper Alberta

Some pics of the Jasper Trip. The Elk pic was taken at the entrance of the Jasper Park lodge.
The pic of the road and mountain was coming back from Maligne Lake.

Re: Jasper Alberta

Some further pics of the the campsite.
The mosquito haven....we used this tent quite of bit.
The out outdoor cook top...it was nice to cook out side...if the mozzi didn't eat you. Need to re-plumb the out door grill to the trailer quick connect so I don't have to bring the extra 20 lb bottle of propane.
The "spot" had to back up on the right hand side and do a left turn into the site.....not my favourite thing to do...but after a couple of attempts and some good guidance from the " PIC" "Person in Charge" made it.

Re: Jasper Alberta

We could have used one of those tents when we were in Yellowstone! The mosquitos were horrible the first 4 or 5 days we were there. We would get swarmed everytime we walked out the door!

Re: Jasper Alberta

For some reason this camping season seems terrible for mosquitoes...hope the mites, black flies and no-see-ums aren't as bad.
The road and mountain pic was a fluke.... My wife took the pic through the windshield of the truck at the crest of the hill just as we were going down the other side.
Thanks for the comments.

Re: Jasper Alberta

Yeah, we nearly got carried away by mosquitos in Jasper as well. The bug tent came in very handy.

And Coop, the fitting to plumb to the trailer gas connection cost me $100. I did it with a T setup and two more quick connects though so I could use the stove and the grill at the same time.

Re: Jasper Alberta

Thejean...Thanks for the infor in the propane Ts. Hauling that 20lb propane tnk in and out of the back of the truck is a pain.

Re: Jasper Alberta

Hey Coops, we have the same grill! Except mine is green...

I sure would like to know how I can run that grill off of the propane quick-connect on the trailer. I mean as far as what I need for connections...

Dave.

Re: Jasper Alberta

I can see by the picture of the Elk in a previous post that the park people already have the flea collars installed.

Re: Jasper Alberta

Dave..hope your "green grill" cooks better than our "red" one..every time I use it, it burns the food.

Re: Jasper Alberta

Coop,
It sounds to me like less attention to your beer and more attention to cooking is in order for your red grill cooking.

Dave.
What you need is a 3/8" hose connection with a T and two quick connects. I plug the T into the existing quick connect and then whatever reducers and expanders you need. Will take pic next week and post.
