Capitol Reef Utah

Have spent the last several days at Capitol reef which is west of Moab and the Colorado River. Have gone by the cutoff off interstate 70 many times big mistake this is beautiful country!!

Have had several days of off and on rain cool temps. Today gorgeous western sky's big puffy white clouds and the bluest skies. This a must see

Bill,

Your killing me! That corner of UT is some special place. If you are heading to Moab from Capitol Reef you are hitting one of my most memorable rides.

Every turn brings a new treat for the senses.

We're coming up behind you. We'll be there in 3 weeks. Already I can taste the cherry pie from the Gifford Homestead. We're going through Utah & Wyoming up to Mount Rushmore and back through Colorado. 10 National Parks, 2 National Monuments and a lot of great memories on our upcoming summer adventure.

The west is beyond awesome. The weather yesterday perfect. Today we leave for grand junction to work for two days and then meander back home to northern Nevada. Have boondocked a lot this trip great fun and super quiet. Nice thing to not many people yet. Have fun. Bill

That's the only N.P. in Utah I haven't been to.

Worth going to. We came in hwy 24 off of interstate 70 just northeast of Richfield Utah. Would have loved to come in on hwy 12 from near cedar city but time didn't allow. Quite a few people here in the area quite a few class C rentals. Can't imagine after Memorial Day must be busy. I am a big fan of canyon country so intriguing. My wife found a dirt road beyond the fruita campground that took us to pleasant creek took the dog and hiked along the creek no other people. Found nice wild flowers and as the canyon narrowed great petroglyphs. I could go on. Great temps in the high 60's super air quality. Also in Torrey where we are staying some decent restaurants.

Were you boondocking or staying in one of the RV parks in Torrey? We're planning on staying at Wonderland RV Park for this trip.

That sounds familiar, if it's the campgroung I think it is, a Goldwing rider and I surrounded a Freightliner camper. That was some camper, one of them big Sleeper rigs, towing a old fifty foot reffer. The reffer had been converted into a toy hauler or a better name would be Toy palace. The backend looked like the tailgate of a NASCAR hauler. The next morning we watch as they unloaded a sandrail looking buggy.

Amazing what an imagination and some deep pockets can create.

That was the same trip we parked the bike and popup between two Class As at Circus, Circus.

Wonderland is at the junction of 12 and 24 in Torrey Utah. Not bad on the road but quiet at night. Make sure when you are there that you take the scenic drive going southeast out of the fruita campground It's about 10 miles of paved then you get to the Capitol gorge which is dirt but the drive through the gorge is the absolute best. Have seen many wild rigs on the road this one sounds wild!!
