Camping in California
California has some amazing places to camp. Here are some places I recommend. These places are good for RV's, travel trailers and tents. Most of these are places I have been camping at since I was a kid. Feel free to ask me any questions. These are just the best ones I recommend. Please post campsites near these.
William Heise County Park, Julian CA
Carlsbad State Beach, Carlsbad CA
Campland on the Bay, San Diego CA
Ocotillo Wells, San Diego CA
Mount San Jacinto State Park, Idyllwild CA
San Elijo State Beach, Cardiff CA
Fernwood Campground, Big Sur CA
Serrano Campground, Fawnskin CA (Big Bear Lake)

The one thing I haven't done yet is take my RV into California. Not because I don't wanna go, but... I'm not quite sure home much hassle there is about bringing guns into the state.
Now I don't mean for this post to get political... I don't, and I hope the moderators remove it if things turn that way. I'm strictly talking legalities.
I have a couple of Glocks I keep with me... and as a full-time guy, it's not like I can just "leave them at home". I haven't been "home" in a long, long time. And while renting a safe deposit box at a bank to keep them in before entering the state is an option... that would mean I'd have to return to that location when I left, which isn't really an attractive option.
Even though I possess a concealed carry license that is good in many states (not CA), I wouldn't be trying to conceal them on my person or in my truck... just have them in my possession at the RV. Kinda like having a gun in your home. But I'm not sure how CA interprets and/or enforces that.
Anyone have any good & RELIABLE info on that? With references that I could look up to verify?
Just curious...

There legal so just keep them safe in the RV/ trailer. If you have kids put a lock on them. Keep ammo and guns separate while driving to a destination.
Go to the NRA website. https://www.nraila.org/articles/2014...transportation

Guide To The Interstate Transportation Of Firearms
They are legal so you are fine. Just keep ammo and guns separate while driving. I would check about magazines over 10 rounds entering into the state.

here is some info.
Under California law a concealed handgun can legally be transported with a motor vehicle without a permit only by carrying it: Unloaded. Locked in the vehicle's trunk or in a separate locked container other than the utility or glove compartment.

Traveling with guns in CA
Just watch the mag capacity. Anything over 10 rounds. You are fine with the Glocks just don't drive with them loaded. Keep mags and gun seperate like chily3 said. Go the the NRA website about the mags though.

I've only driven through Campland but it looks like an over-crowded parking lot. In San Diego we prefer Chula Vista RV. Add San Clemente State park to your list.
I've been carrying guns to Kali for decades including my dreaded AR-15, lol. So long as one doesn't do something stupid, the cops won't know about your firearms. Better to have and not need than the other way around.

Campland
Campland is not for everyone. It is a lot of fun and they have live concerts at night. The park is for families and reminds me of Lake Havasu on spring break but the family version. lol The further away from the beach the quieter it is. This place is the only one on my list that isn't for everyone. I'ts still a lot of fun and sadly it will closing in about 5 years. Check it out while you can.

San Clemente State Park
Yes San Clemente State Park is very nice. I have only camped there once and had fun. The only thing I did not like about that park is the sites. Not much trees or privacy. Still very nice for beach camping.

Lake Cahuilla
Man that brings me back lol I used to camp there when I was a kid. My friends mom worked at PGA West. We would camp there during the tournament. This was way back in 89-early 90's. Looks like they really fixed it up. Thanks for the reply. DHS

Lake Cahuilla like Rancho Jurupa you feel like your out away from any big city. Yet just a few mile drive & you have all the city shops & sight seeing that you need.
