New to the road and Dutchmen

Hey everyone it's nice to be in this group. My wife and I have put a deposit on a new Dutchmen 277RLS trailer that we should pick up this weekend. I am wondering what you RVers that have a Dutchmen think about the trailer. The 277 will work fine for us as far as space and storage but I am wondering what the owners think of the Dutchmen over all reliability? Thanks for the help.

Re: New to the road and Dutchmen

We have the 2010 Dutchmen 25C-GS that is featured this month on the photo of the "rig of the month". We live in it every other week and have found it to be exactly what we expected. It meets our needs and we are very satisfied with the quality. All trailers are built light, because of the trade off of their towing capability vs. their structural integrity and Dutchmen has done a good job with the compromise. We took it to Florida this last winter and plan to take it to Canada this summer.

Probably the biggest dissapointment I have had was a plastic drawer slide bracket used through out the trailer on all the drawers that did not hold up to the job. I eventually replaced all of them with plywood bracing that holds the ends of the drawer slides.

Welcome to the forum ezspdr and congrats on the new acquisition. We bought an Aerolite this year, which are made by Dutchmen and I'm actually quite surprised and pleased with the construction and detail.

Re: New to the road and Dutchmen

Hello ezspdr and welcome.. glad u joined the group... I sent u the link to this forum ( from the iRv2). We bought new in 2010 a Kodiak 20 FL made by Dutchmen. We have had some small issues with it ...but they have been addressed promptly. As Jan mentioned above...it is a bit of a compromise of TT weight vs structure. Ya they cheap out on some things...the biggest thing for me was the reputation of the dealer and the after sales service they provide. In saying that...not sure were your dealer is located.....but if I was looking to buy another Duthcmen I would look for a deler closer to home...hooking up and traveling 3 hrs return trip for warranty or service work is a pain.
Good luck and hope others on the forum chime in with their feedback about Dutchmen both good and bad.

Welcome to the forum ezspdr. on your new purchase. We just ran our first trip in our Dutchmen Sport 265 BHS & overall very pleased. Had a couple of teething problems but from what i can gather it's just the norm. Storage & living space is great. Looking forward to the next trip.....

Hey Cooper, thanks for sending me to this site. I look forward to sharing my experiences, good and bad as we roll into the RV world. This will be our first time RVing and my wife and I can't wait to get going. The dealer we purchased the Dutchmen from has a really good reputation and is about an hour away from us. They were very knowledgeable and worked with us during the purchase. We are picking it up on Saturday and going through training at the dealership. Can't wait to get going. Thanks again.

Ezspdr....your more than welcome and welcome to the world of Rving and to the forum. The forum is very helpful I think there is a wealth of RVing knowledge in this forum.
I am just amazed how technology (internent) is making the world smaller ....where folks from different parts of the world can exchange ideas.
Enjoy... drive and tow safe.
