Question New to RVing 2015 Kodiak 284BHSL

Hi!

I'm not only new to RVing but also new to posting on forums...

Had our new RV out this weekend and despite my near heart attack trying to guide my husband into the site (thank you to our new friend Kyle for taking over...), it went smoothly. Our 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 was the TV and she did well.

I'm hoping someone an answer these two questions that I feel a bit silly for having to ask but here goes:

1. Where is the fresh water holding tank? And how do we fill it?

- we hooked up to city water and I thought that would be the way to fill the holding tank but our control panel continually read the holding tank as 'empty'.
- I'm sure they pointed it out at the walk through but clearly that info leaked out of both our heads.

2. Can the main door latch lose its ability to stay 'latched' securely if the rv is not level?

- we were on soft ground and clearly started tilting one way as the weekend progressed and with that the main door stopped staying shut- the latch would either not catch or it would close briefly and pop open within 2 minutes!

Thank you for reading and for any advice that can be offered!!

Cheers,

Mel from Edmonton, AB

Welcome to the forums!

Answer to question 1: should be a screw off cap labeled "Fresh Water Only" typically they are pretty near the city water fill.

Answer to question 2: Absolutely, the trailers flex a fair bit and if yours was getting twisted in a certain direction it is possible for the door latches to not work properly. Best solution is to make sure you are on solid ground and leveled out. I had an Airstream that would jam the door if I wasn't careful about leveling.

Concerning your doors locking, the short answer is yes, Yes, YES. Had a similar problem last summer when I traveled solo from South Carolina to Idaho during my over night stops. Once I got parked, it was better but after driving a 600 mile day, I was just a bit too tired to go for the very best level I could, seeing that I was going to be up early the next morning.

I have this same model TT. Water fill is on the curb side of the unit.
