When winter comes, the population swells to amazing levels. The parks are full of SNOW BIRDS! That's why the big RV show is in Tampa in the middle of winter, they hope to get that business. I missed the show this year, I wanted to see what was new and amazing.

Welcome to both of you!
Since no one else has taken the time to tell you about our two (unwritten) rules, allow me to do that:

1. We love pictures!

2. Stay out of the "Show of your Mods" thread, it is guaranteed to cost you (lots of) money!

It's a great show and full of great deals. There are probably a thousand RV's to look at and it takes two days to see most of it (the tickets are good for two days). We bought our second RV there and they gave me everything I paid for my first as a trade in plus they picked it up and delivered the new one to North Carolina. Needless to say, there are LOTS of sales going on there and lots of very hungry sales folks.

Yeah, I've seen a lot in FL.. but I think Arizona may actually have Florida beat. There's a reason the winter population of the Phoenix metro area rises by over 15-million each year... and that's not even counting the Yuma, Tucson, or Colorado River valley areas.

Is the median age there 80 like it is here?

Ha... well, not sure about 80, but it's close. Funny story...

Being an east coast guy, I used to always manage to get down to FL once a year during the winter, even before I retired. Usually for a week... sometimes two.

Anyway, the 2nd year of retirement... I and a friend who retired around the same time as me decided to take our RVs to AZ for the first time, and our first landing spot was Apache Junction on the east side of Phoenix. After the 2nd or 3rd time we went into town for groceries or lunch... whatever... we noticed & asked the question: doesn't anyone under the age of 60 live here?

Seriously... I'll bet during that 3-week stay, we saw less than 15 people who were under the age of 40. I mean, even at the fast-food places, all of the workers were adults. No teenagers or college-age kids. It was weird.

LOL Soooo True! I think I have spent over 45k in my head thinking of all the things I can do to my unit.... until I talk to my wife and she brings me back to reality.... of course I did manage to get the amateur radio coax connectors installed in the slideout when she was not looking....

Welcome to the group!

Other forums for help

There is a very active forum similar to this called forest river forum. Although the brand is different, many issues are the same so there is a wealth of knowledge between these forums. It’s great when you have questions not specific to your RV brand, like about, generators, hitches, tow vehicles, campgrounds, etc...

There is no problem joining, since we are all collectively the RV community. We were looking to buy a Forest River, before our Aspen Trail, and that is how I joined. Both of These forums have really been valuable to learn from and get many different opinions and experiences ...way better than just listening to a brother-in-law that knows it all.

Ya all ferget about Texas? They call them winter Texans down here. The resorts have special for them when they start rollin in about Nov through March. By the way its in the 80's here today, yesterday, and tomorra. Some towns down in the valley here, double in size when the winter Texans come.
