Re: New Dutchmen

Congrats on your purchase......it will be a huge step up from tenting, and you were smart to buy such a nice TT to start with.

Re: New Dutchmen

HI:
YOU WILL love camping in your travel trailer. We are new to this Forum but not new to TT (travel trailer) camping. Here are a few things we learned about TT Camping:

1. Be very careful about how much stuff you bring along. Dishes, clothes, pots and pans, canned food, cleaning products can all add a lot of weight. We learned that one frying pan, one pot, a few dishes, one large and one small serving bowl, boxed food, small containers of cleaning products and plastic glasses made a big difference.
2. Pack only enough clothing for the trip. Wear things more than one day.
3. Check your control panel a few times a day because the tanks fill up quickly. ( on a side note, BUBBLES can make the tanks appear fuller than they are so do not use lots of dish soap nor shampoos).

4. Only use the recommended toilet tissue- and don't flush anything else but that kind.

5. EVERYONE you meet will be friendly and helpful in the RV Parks. ENJOY the new forever friends.

6. Get an exterior water filter. That way all of your water will be filtered.

7. Use Lysol spray on the ends of all of your hoses and the outside faucets.

Be blessed and enjoy this wonderful time of your life. WE LOVE our TT and camping.

Hi Ron. We could take her home anytime now but my wife,Karen work's in taxe's so it's her busiest time of the year . Plus with it still being winter here figured we'd leave it in the Showroom untill May.... I also have to get a couple of things done to the Truck.

They make square plastic leveling blocks that are very sturdy and more important, very light and adaptable. They lock into each other as you stack them and come something like 10 to a box......buy at least two boxes, and you will be able to level anywhere.
Remember to level it side to side BEFORE unhooking the tow rig, then you will be able to back the low side tires right onto these as you can also make them into a ramp by stacking 5....3.....2, with the tires sitting up on the "2" part.....

Re: New Dutchmen

That's another lesson learned. Thank's Glenn. Just going to have to put all this into practice.

You are very welcome! Level the trailer front to rear with the tongue jack (after side to side, then removing the truck) Then these plastic blocks work well too for the jacks. Lower each side close to the ground, and if one side is going to touch the ground before the other side, slip one or two more of these under the high one so that they both touch down at the same time. Quick and easy leveling!
They also help with soft ground by enlarging the footprint of your jacks.

Re: New Dutchmen

The plastic blocks that Glenn refers to are called Lynx Levelers. We carry two sets (10 blocks in each set) along with 4 caps and 2 of their Stop & Chocks. They store nice and make leveling a breeze. Their website is here: Lynx Levelers. Just Google it and you'll find various places to buy them.

Enjoy the new rig!

I see you bought yours at Sunridge RV as well. Who was your salesperson? We had Suzanne. She is very knowledgeable and they seem like a great dealer. Very friendly and never bashed the competition like every other dealer did. How do you find them for after-sales service? And if I see you on the road, I'll be sure to wave! Cheers, JC

We are over in Douglasdale, so not far away.

Lee is actually the one who closed our deal for us as Suzanne was out that day.

This is our first camper as well. We rented twice last year to get a feel for it but decided that it was more hassle than it was worth to rent and went out and bought our own.

We plan to be out every other weekend this summer. We are pretty lucky to have such the rocky mountains less than an hour away.
