Greetings! New to RVing...

Greetings everyone! My RVing experience is extremely limited. A friend gave us a 1991 HiLo wihch we used for one year, then it promptly rusted to pieces and fell apart. It's now been converted into a trailer with sides, but that's another story. Anyway we have fun that one year we took the HiLo out. Last week we replaced the HiLo with a 2002 Dutchmen 30rk fifth wheel. It's a beast of a trailer! Most of the major items seem to work on AC power like the fridge & the AC. Slide seems to work ok as well. But alas, I have so many questions about my new toy, like how to use it and properly maintain it. Hopefully the collective experience of everyone here can help me fix all the little things (and some of the big things as well) so I can get this trailer ready for some September/October camping! Oh, and if anyone has the same trailer as me or something similar, please PM me, I have TONS of questions! So with that, thanks in advance!

Welcome, ask your questions, there are lot of guys and girls who can advise you about RVing and repairs, I have had 6 RV's since 1992, and have done a lot of repairs, even rebuilding....First thing is enjoy your RV, as you use it, you will find what you want to add, since we don't know your Tow Vehicle, I would watch how many things you add, so you don't get overweight, we can go over things you need, but since you have had an RV, you may have some of the items already....

I agree with RVnevada..asks all the questions you want but you will get more diverse responses by asking out in the open. Pick and choose what suits your needs. Some things on a 5th wheel are pretty intense to repair and some are run of the mill repairs.. So ask away.

We got an early 1999 4-door F350 7.3 diesel from my wife's grandfather. The thing is rust free and only has 82,000 miles on it. I just picked up a Reese 15k fifth wheel on craigslist and just ordered the no-drill frame rails that are specific to the truck from e-trailer. I'm hoping to have the rails and install the hitch later in the week once it arrives. I towed the trailer home with a 92 dodge 3/4 ton with a magnum 318 and it towed a-ok.
